Most news about nursing home care is negative, sensationalized, litigious, and not at all fair, balanced, or representative of most nursing home care. The Centers for Medicaid and Medicare track patient care and publish their findings in the public domain, and generally, leave the public to interpret their data – often seen as a negative and assumed to be the fault of the care provided at a facility. As a nursing home professional, I know that some facilities do not provide good care, some are understaffed, some cut corners, and some do not care. BUT there are many touching stories of good happenings and good care in the nursing home world and I intend to post them as I hear about them.
